How to turn a video into a GIF on iPhone and iPad
Step 1: Open the Shortcuts App
First, you’ll need to open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. If you can’t find it, simply swipe down on your home screen and type “Shortcuts” into the search bar.
Step 2: Go to the Gallery Tab and Type “GIF” in the Search Bar
Once you’re in the Shortcuts app, tap on the Gallery tab and type “GIF” in the search bar at the top of the screen. This will bring up a list of available shortcuts related to GIFs.
Step 3: Tap on the “Videos to GIF” Option
Next, look for the “Videos to GIF” option under the Shortcuts tab and tap on it. This will take you to the screen where you can start creating your GIF.
Step 4: Hit the Add Shortcut Button
At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see an “Add Shortcut” button. Tap on it to add the shortcut to your collection.
Step 5: Choose the Video Clip You Want to Convert
Now it’s time to choose the video clip you want to convert to a GIF. Tap on the “Choose from Photos” option and select the video clip you want to use.
Step 6: Shorten the Video Clip if Necessary
If your video clip is too long, you’ll be prompted to shorten it by dragging the sliders on either end of the clip. Make sure to adjust the length to your preference.
Step 7: Tap on the Save Option
Once you’ve made all the necessary changes, tap on the “Save” option to save your GIF.
After saving your GIF, you can share it with others by using the Share button. This will give you the option to share your GIF via text, email, or social media.
Step 9: Hit the Done Button
Finally, when you’re finished creating and sharing your GIF, hit the “Done” button to exit the Shortcuts app.
Using a Third-Party App to Create a GIF
If you prefer to use a third-party app to create your GIF, there are many options available on the App Store. Here are some popular choices:
- GIPHY
- GIF Maker – Photos to GIF
- ImgPlay – GIF Maker
- Adobe Video to GIF
Each of these apps has a similar process for creating a GIF. Simply select the video clip you want to use, edit it if necessary, and save it as a GIF.
