Hello, everyone! It’s been a while since I last shared an article here. A lot has been happening in life, and I hope you’ve all been doing well. Finally, I have some time on my hands, and I’m back to discuss simplified tech with you. Today won’t be a how-to article, though. Instead, let me share an experience from a few days ago when I was exploring Snapchat.

While checking my settings, I tapped on my profile icon and, to my surprise, my Bitmoji looked hideous. I mean, seriously? I had spent hours making that avatar look cool, and in one update, Snapchat turned it into a strange-looking creature.

Over the years, Snapchat has rolled out numerous updates – some incredibly useful, others not so much. Then there are those updates that didn’t seem useful initially but became an integral part of our lives, like the new Snapchat-integrated AI, MyAI. However, not every update hits the mark. In this case, it seems like Snapchat missed the target. The creative minds behind the app made changes without checking user reviews or considering if anyone even wanted these changes.

SnapChat Bitmoji Update! Why?

So, why did they make this Snapchat Bitmoji update? The simple reason boils down to an attempt to make Snapchat Bitmojis more realistic. Unfortunately, this decision ignores the fact that users embraced Bitmoji as a fun animated avatar meant to mirror their looks in a playful cartoon style. It was about expressing personal style and creating an idealized version of oneself. The move towards realism completely undermines that original concept.

This isn’t the first time such a shift has occurred. Remember when Snapchat Bitmojis went from 2D to 3D? Users were upset initially, but it eventually became the norm. However, the backlash over this new update suggests it might not stick around for long. Snapchat could consider releasing an update to revert Bitmojis back to their original form or adding a setting that allows users to choose between realistic and cartoonish versions.

Can you bring your Bitmoji back to the way it was? Unfortunately, as of now, there’s no straightforward way to revert your Bitmoji to the former version we all loved. However, if you can’t stand the new look, you can temporarily remove your Bitmoji from your profile. This doesn’t mean you can’t add a Bitmoji again – it’s a temporary removal. If you decide to add one later, simply create a new Bitmoji, and you’re good to go.

How to Remove Snapchat Bitmoji

  1. Go to your App drawer on your iPhone or Android
  2. Open Snapchat
  3. Tap on the chats icon
  4. Click on your profile icon on the top-left corner of the screen
  5. Tap on settings at the top-right corner of your screen
  6. Tap on Bitmoji
  7. Under the “Choose a selfie” option, tap on “Remove my Bitmoji” to completely remove your Bitmoji from your Snapchat account.

For those who prefer visual guides, here’s a YouTube video demonstrating how to remove your Bitmoji after the new Snapchat Bitmoji update.

Let’s hope Snapchat takes user feedback seriously and gives us the option to keep our Bitmojis the way we like them. Fingers crossed! 🤞
