These earbuds are available in two classic colours, black and white. Now, let’s delve into a comprehensive review to better understand the product’s capabilities.
Tecno Sonic 1 Wireless Earbuds Review
Unboxing & Initial Impressions
Upon initial inspection of the packaging, the Tecno Sonic 1 Earbuds exhibit a robust build quality with the use of sturdy cardboard material, ensuring protection even in the event of an accidental fall from elevated surfaces. It is worth noting that a minor typographical error is present, with “True” being spelt as “Ture,” an oversight that could have been avoided.

One particularly intriguing aspect of these earbuds is Tecno’s claim that they can provide up to 50 hours of usage, a feature I was keen to explore.
Design and Build Quality
The Tecno Sonic 1 Earbuds boast a sleek and stylish design, characterized by a glossy Tecno logo on the charging case. Constructed from lightweight plastic, these earbuds are remarkably comfortable to wear for extended periods.
The earbuds are comparable in terms of weight to well-known alternatives such as the Oraimo Rhyme and Apple Airpods. Furthermore, they are supplied with three different sizes of soft silicone ear tips, allowing users to select the most suitable fit for their ears. This design choice not only enhances comfort but also establishes a secure seal, effectively attenuating ambient noise.
An additional noteworthy feature is the presence of magnets within the earbuds that facilitate secure attachment when the ear tips are brought into proximity.
Externally, the earbuds are equipped with a touch-sensitive control panel, contributing to their overall ergonomic design and build quality.
Features and Functionality
The Tecno Sonic Earbuds come equipped with several notable features, including dual-mic noise cancellation, 45mAh battery capacity per earbud, an 800mAh charging case, Bluetooth version 5.3, various sound modes, and IPX5 water resistance.
Sound Quality
It is essential to highlight that these earbuds are not optimized for gaming, as noticeable latency issues were observed during gaming sessions. To address sound quality concerns, Tecno has developed the AudPub app, compatible with both iOS and Android platforms, to enhance audio performance.
While the AudPub app holds potential, my initial experience left room for improvement. Its user-friendliness fell short of expectations, and its functionality was limited to basic sound adjustments. Without the app, the earbuds exhibited low volume and lacked bass. However, after installing AudPub, there was a remarkable improvement in sound quality, with significantly increased volume levels.
In summary, the Tecno Sonic 1 Earbuds present a compelling package with their sleek design, comfortable fit, and commendable sound quality potential when used in conjunction with the AudPub app. However, prospective buyers should be aware of their limitations in gaming scenarios and the need for app installation to fully unlock their audio capabilities.
Connectivity & Controls
The Tecno Sonic 1 Earbuds demonstrate seamless connectivity with a wide range of devices, offering a particularly enhanced experience for Tecno device users, owing to its brand synergy. Notably, the earbuds can be easily paired with your iPhone, and one noteworthy feature is the automatic connection feature. Once initially paired with your device, the earbuds will effortlessly re-establish the connection upon removal from the charging case.
Further enhancing user convenience, the earbuds feature a touch-sensitive control panel on the exterior of each earbud. This intuitive interface allows for effortless playback control, call management, and activation of the voice assistant.
Battery Life and Charging
In terms of battery performance, each individual earbud requires approximately 1.5 hours to reach a full charge from an empty battery, while the charging case necessitates approximately 3 hours for a complete charge cycle. Notably, I conducted a comprehensive test to verify Tecno’s claim of 50 hours of battery life, and the results exceeded expectations. Surprisingly, the earbuds provided more than 70 hours of uninterrupted usage.
To put this into perspective, surpassing the 50-hour mark equates to over two days and an additional two hours of continuous playtime. It’s important to clarify that the extended 70-hour usage was achieved through a combination of music playback and extended periods of relaxation.
Active Noise Cancellation
The Tecno Sonic 1 Earbuds have been promoted on certain platforms as featuring noise-cancellation capabilities. However, it is imperative to clarify that this applies exclusively to phone calls. Noise cancellation is not applicable during music playback. Therefore, it is essential to acknowledge that the Sonic 1 Wireless Earbuds do not incorporate active noise cancellation (ANC) for music listening purposes.
