How to Download Apps on your Android TV In today’s world, Smart TVs have become increasingly popular. They allow you to connect your TV to the internet and download your favorite apps. Much like an Android phone, you can also download apps on your Android TV.
Although your device may come pre-installed with streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube, you can still choose to add apps from your favorite list.
The process of downloading apps on your device is simple. In this article, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to search for a particular app from the Google Play Store, download it, and get started with the app on your device.
Steps on How to Download Apps on your Android TV
Step 1: Launch the Android Home Screen.
Press the home button on your supplied remote for the home menu to display.
Step 2: Open Google Play Store
To get started, navigate to the Settings app on your Android TV. Next, click on “Apps,” and then select “See All Apps.” Scroll down until you find the Google Play Store app in the list of app options, and then select it. Click on “Open” to launch the Google Play Store app. If you are not already signed in to your Google account, you will be prompted to do so to proceed.
Step 3: Search App that you want to download
Once you have launched the Google Play Store app and signed in to your Google account, you will be taken to the home page. Here, navigate to the search bar and click on it. In the Search field, type in the name of the app that you would like to download, and then click on the enter button on your remote or keyboard.
Alternatively, if you have Google Assistant enabled on your Android TV, you can simply say the name of the app out loud after clicking on the microphone icon for the assistant to type it for you.
From the provided search results, locate the app that you want to download and click on it to view the app’s details page.
On the app’s details page, you will be able to see more information about the app, including its description, reviews, and screenshots. If you decide that you want to download the app, simply click on the “Install” button located on the app’s details page.
Wait patiently for the app to download and install on your Android TV. The time it takes for the app to install will depend on its size and the speed of your internet connection. Once the installation is complete, you will be presented with an option to “Open” the app. Click on “Open” to launch the app and get started.
Note: It’s important to note that you may encounter certain apps that are not available for download on your Android TV. If you see a notification that says “This app is not available for your device,”
it could be due to various reasons such as device incompatibility, regional restrictions, missing device features, outdated software versions, and limited storage space.
In case you encounter such an error, you can try to search for alternative apps that offer similar features or functionality. You may also want to consider upgrading your Android TV’s software to the latest version and freeing up storage space on your device to improve performance.
How to uninstall Downloaded Apps on your Android TV
- Press the home button on your remote for the home menu to display.
- Navigate to the Settings app.
- Select Apps.
- Click on “See All Apps.”
- Scroll down and select the app that you want to install.
- Click on “Uninstall.”
- On the next page, you will be prompted to confirm the uninstallation. Click “OK.”
