Because this isn’t the official WhatsApp app, its users are in danger of being banned from accessing WhatsApp. However, this has been addressed by regular app updates.

How To Update FMWhatsApp Without Losing Chats: The OverWrite Method

The first method you can use to update your FMWhatsApp without losing chats is through the Overwrite method. This method didn’t originally work on earlier versions of FMWhatsApp. But, with the latest versions, you can easily overwrite the old version while installing the new one.

To do this:

1. Download the latest version of FMWhatsApp HERE;
2. Now, if your WhatsApp application is running, make sure you close it
3. Head on to the File Manager application on your device
4. Go to the “Downloads” folder
5. Search for the name of the latest version of the FMWhatsApp APK you just downloaded
6. Click on it and then tap on “Install.”
7. After installation, go to your FMWhatsApp application and open it. You’ll see that it has been updated, but all your chats and settings are still intact.

What happened here is that the latest version you downloaded will automatically render the current version of FMWhatsApp you’re using obsolete, and then it’ll use itself to replace that obsolete version, thereby upgrading your FMWhatsApp to the latest version available.

How To Update FMWhatsApp Without Losing Chats: The Backup Method

Another way you can update your FMWhatsApp application without losing any of your chats will be using the Backup Method. Everyone knows that you can back up your chats. But, on some Android devices, when you backup your chats and then delete the old FMWhatsApp to install a new version…

Your Backup will also be deleted, and then, after installing the new version, you will not have your backup files anymore, thereby resulting in the loss of your chats. I have a method you can use to avoid this. Just follow the steps below.

1. Download the latest version of FMWhatsApp HERE;
2. Now, head on to your current FMWhatsApp and open it
3. Tap on the “three-line” button on the top-right corner of your app screen
4. Tap on “FMMods”
5. Click on “Universal”
6. Click on “Backup and Restore”
7. Now, click on “Backup WhatsApp data.”
8. You’ll have to wait for the backup process to complete.

After the backup process is complete;

1. Head on to File Manager on your Android device
2. Click on “Android”
3. Click on “Media”
4. Scroll down till you see “com.whatsapp” and click on it
5. Now, click on the “WhatsApp sub-folder.”
6. Click on “yoBackup”
7. Now, you’ll see a folder named “com.whatsapp.” Hold down on the folder and click on copy.
8. You can copy this folder and paste it inside any other folder in your File Manager for safekeeping, and you can also copy the folder and send it to a laptop.

Now, after successfully copying the whole folder and saving it somewhere else in your file manager. Or, copy the folder and save it on a laptop. You can uninstall the former version of FMWhatsApp installed on your device.

After uninstalling the older version of FMWhatsApp installed on your device, you can now install the latest version of WhatsApp you downloaded at the beginning of this step-by-step guide. After installing that, you can now click on “Copy WhatsApp data” after opening the latest version.

All your chats, fonts, and general settings should be imported from your files, and you should have everything running in less than five minutes. But, if that doesn’t work, that’s where our extra backup comes in.

All you have to do is:

1. Head on to File Manager on your Android device
2. Go to the folder you save the “com.whatsapp” folder you copied before and then click on it and copy it again.
3. Click on “Android”
4. Click on “Media”
5. Scroll down till you see “com.whatsapp” and click on it
6. Now, click on the “WhatsApp” sub-folder
7. Click on “yoBackup”
8. Now, inside the yoBackup folder, paste the “com.whatsapp” folder you copied. Afterward, go back to the FMWhatsApp application and click “Copy WhatsApp data.” All your chats should now be recovered successfully.
